An instrumented large soil column to investigate climatic ground interaction

چکیده
The field monitoring of the climatic-induced behaviour expansive soil has always been difficult, expensive and time consuming. uncontrollability boundary conditions difficulty in accurately measuring them have worsened problem. As an alternative, instrumented model set-ups are ideal for long-term soils since laboratory compacted become environmentally stabilised after few wet–dry cycles. There had a very limited laboratory-based column observation under unsaturated with appropriate set sensors embedded at known depths. major difficulties associated tests considerable effect sensor-to-soil area ratio due to insufficient physical dimensions. In this study, research need set-up minimised effects addressed by large column, which could more closely represent soil. current results depict expected pattern variations suction, volumetric water content displacement wetting drying phenomenon, accentuates applicability investigation behaviour.

Does an instrumented treadmill correctly measure the ground reaction forces?
Since the 1990s, treadmills have been equipped with multi-axis force transducers to measure the three components of the ground reaction forces during walking and running. These measurements are correctly performed if the whole treadmill (including the motor) is mounted on the transducers. In this case, the acceleration of the treadmill centre of mass relative to the reference frame of the labor...
متن کاملSeismic Damage Assessment of RC Buildings Subjected to the Rotational Ground Motion Records Considering Soil-Structure Interaction
The significance of the seismic rotational components have been overlooked in the seismic evaluation of structural behavior. As researchers have measured seismic components more accurately using sensitive rotational velocity sensor, it was observed that the magnitude of rotational components is considerable and could not be neglected. Hence, some parts of seismic damage or failure of structures...
متن کاملQuantitative Temporal Viromics: An Approach to Investigate Host-Pathogen Interaction
A systematic quantitative analysis of temporal changes in host and viral proteins throughout the course of a productive infection could provide dynamic insights into virus-host interaction. We developed a proteomic technique called "quantitative temporal viromics" (QTV), which employs multiplexed tandem-mass-tag-based mass spectrometry. Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is not only an important path...
متن کامل30 cars , figure of 8 , 1 show : large scale proving ground experiments to investigate junction control
An experiment was conducted using the InnovITS proving ground in Nuneaton. Thirty cars with volunteer drivers were asked to drive around a tight closed road circuit causing them to pass repeatedly through a cross-roads junction from all directions. The junction was signalized. In different test-runs of the experiment the traffic lights were controlled by either an automated system or by a human...
